“Wanderers I” is a unique, one-of-a-kind work that originated as “Beach Bums II” and has been extensively reimagined by Margaret through hand-applied acrylic and oil pastel embellishments.

The piece features significant artistic transformations throughout. The dog, originally depicted as a black-and-white mixed breed, has been reinvented as a wheaten Cairn Terrier. The child has undergone a complete metamorphosis: the original Caucasian girl has been transformed into a Black boy wearing a blue baseball cap and an aqua-blue shirt. Margaret has also entirely reworked the subject’s facial features, complexion, hair, and clothing.

In addition, the background has been enriched with deeper blue tones, creating a more dramatic and contemporary atmosphere. Perhaps most strikingly, the emotional character of the piece has shifted—from the wistful expression of a sad-eyed girl to the bright, content presence of a cheerful young boy.

Because of these extensive hand-painted alterations and artistic enhancements, “Wanderers I” stands as a truly singular work of art. No other version exists, making it an exceptional opportunity and a remarkable addition for the dedicated Keane collector.
